Made by artists who invite you to explore the city through sound
sub sacellum
Through the acoustics and historical background sub sacellum questions the interaction between sound and space of the Reservatório da Patriarcal. Exploring its movement, the sound installation plays the space, creating an immaterial presence of the past that leads the spectators to explore the space through the sound, discovering its underground resonating memories.

Júlia Lema Barros
Júlia Lema Barros, born in Lisbon, Portugal, Graduated in Multimedia Art with Sound Art as a specialty at ESAAIX (école supérieure d'art d'Aix-en - Provence). She continued her training in sound art by starting a collaboration with DAF (Dynamische Akustiche Forchung) as a free student at the Akademie der Bilddenden Künste Nürnberg. The main core of her work is the creation of fiction, mainly with sound pieces, immersive installations, and projections. She is looking for a way to translate stories into sound to create an immersive experience, from migration tales to utopian ruined cities. To turn them into a sensible experience for the spectator, entering a room with a play of shadows with sound around you or reading a book with an accompanying sound piece. So her core as an artist is to immerse the audience in an audio-visual experience.
